The Water Districts data set contains the boundaries of Water Districts proclaimed under the Water Management Act 1999. The data set is made up of 5 categories of Water Districts. These are Irrigation Districts, Drainage Districts, Riverworks Districts, Hydro-Electric Districts & Water Supply Districts. Not all Water Supply Districts are included at this stage.

Water District boundaries and attributes have been determined by searching and inspecting gazettals, statutory rules & proclamation plans. The position of the boundaries has been aligned to LIST Cadastral Parcels where applicable. Water Districts are maintained independently from LIST Cadastral Parcels and therefore they may be some areas where the boundaries are not co-incident. Water Districts may be updated from time to time to align where possible.

Position Accuracy: For features that align to the LIST Cadastral Parcels accuracy can be determined from Boundary Segments metadata. Attribute Accuracy: Water District attributes have been verified 100% correct. Logical Consistency: Water Districts are regions and only cover selected areas of Tasmania. There can be overlaps of region both within Water District categories and between categories. Regions are attributed with Water District Name, Category, Proclamation details of creating instrument and Plan Reference. Completeness: The Water Districts data set is complete for the categories of Irrigation District, Drainage District, Hydro-Electric Water District & Riverworks District & will be maintained as new proclamations occur.
