Lineage Statement |
Data was initially captured from aerial photography by photogrammetric processes for production of the TASMAP 1:25,000 map series. This information was converted to digital form in the development of this dataset.
Subsequent revision and upgrading has been undertaken by digital photogrammetric processes from digital aerial imagery.
Between 2011 and 2014 a project was undertaken in conjunction with Geoscience Australia to redefine the coastline where it forms part of the Territorial Sea Baseline. In these areas the coastline has been replotted by 3D photogrammetric processes using recent higher resolution controlled aerial imagery. This has been completed for Tasmania and offshore islands (excluding Macquarie Island). Areas of coastline not upgraded as part of this project include Frederick Henry Bay, River Derwent, D'Entrecasteax Channel, northern and western parts of Storm Bay, North Bruny and the River Tamar. In these areas the original 1:25,000 sourced information has been retained. |
Lineage Description |
Position Accuracy:
Accuracy may vary depending on the source of the data. Generally data derived from the 1:25,000 map base will have a positional accuracy such that not less than 90% of well defined data is within 17.5 metres of true position. Upgraded Coastline data will have an accuracy better than 12.5m of Mean HWM.
Attribute Accuracy:
The accuracy of the attribute information is estimated at 99% correct.
Logical Consistency:
All lines are labeled with a Unique Feature Identifier (UFI). This UFI is linked to a Feature Metadata Pointer (FMP) which contains the aerial photography date, horizontal and vertical accuracy and the metadata directory number. All data is topologically clean.
Completeness:
The LIST Coastline dataset exists for Tasmania and all islands within the Tasmanian State Boundary but excluding Macquarie Island. |
