The LIST Private Reserves includes Private Nature Reserves, Private Sanctuaries and Conservation Covenants proclaimed and/or registered pursuant to the Nature Conservation Act 2002. The Private Land Conservation Program (PLCP) encompasses a number of programs to promote and facilitate conservation agreements between private landowners and the Government. These programs establish a covenant on the Folio of the Register and a management agreement with the landowner to establish a system of forest reserves on private land. The LIST Private Reserves data set contains the spatial locations of these areas which are attributed with the category type (for Private Sanctuaries or Private Nature Reserves) or the Covenant Type (for Conservation Covenants). Other attributes include the CPR plan number, proclamation details and/or a file reference. LIST Private Reserves are a layer of The LIST Cadastral Area.

Private Nature Reserve and Private Sanctuary boundaries and attributes have been determined by searching and inspecting proclamation plans. LIST Private Reserves polygons are built from The LIST Boundary Segments and share the same Data Quality attributes. Areas to be covenanted have been determined in the field by reference to existing features like roads, watercourses and property boundaries, and in many cases, GPS co-ordinates defining the extent of these areas. The CPR plan is produced from this information. The LIST Private Reserves data set has been produced by adapting boundary segments or topographic features from other LIST datasets where they exist and by plotting the absolute position of areas defined by co-ordinates.

Position Accuracy: Can be obtained from the feature Metadata Pointer (FMP) for the Boundary Segments that the Cadastral Area is comprised of. Conservation Covenants may have boundaries which are not aligned to defined features and may not meet the above accuracy statement. Where boundaries have been defined by co-ordinates obtained by GPS they will meet the absolute value of those co-ordinates. Attribute Accuracy: It is estimated that not less than 99% of all attributes are correct. Logical Consistency: LIST Private Reserves are closed polygons and are topologically correct. LIST Private Reserves regions have been created from LIST Boundary Segments and therefore align with LIST Cadastral Parcels.
