Abstract |
Tasmanian Crash database is the authoritative reference used by Tasmania Police to store vehicular crashes in Tasmania as reported by Tasmania Police, or in the case of property damage only crashes, reported by the public. The Crash Data database is used to store, manage, and query all reported Tasmanian vehicle crashes. The Crash Data is accessed via the Crash Data Manager (CDM) a web based query and reporting tool that is used by State Growth, Motor Accident Insurance Board, Tasmania Police, and local government authorities. |
Lineage Statement |
Vehicle crash data (classified as fatal, serious, minor, first aid, property damage, etc) attended by Tasmania Police or provided by the general public via the Tasmania Police crash reporting tool (https://www.reportacrash.police.tas.gov.au/TCR/crashReport/welcome) are held in the database. The crash data is uploaded to the (Department of State Growth) Crash Data database (CDM) via a web service (JSON string) from Tasmania Police. State Growth undertakes subsequent validation checks of data once uploaded. Validation checks are made of the attribute values and spatial location.
This database has stored crashes dating back to 1998 and has undergone a number of changes to process since original inception.
Both tabular and coordinate information is stored in the database. A wide array of fields relating to the accident are stored (~200 fields). |
