The Electoral Divisions data set contains boundaries of the 5 Commonwealth (House of Representatives) and State (House of Assembly) Electorates (Bass, Braddon, Clark, Franklin and Lyons) within the State of Tasmania. Areas are attributed with their Electoral name.
Electoral Divisions polygon attributes include:
Polygon Persistent Identifier (ELECTOR_ID)
Full name for a Electoral Division (NAME)
The Central Plan Office number of the plan defining the boundary (PLAN_REF)
The Redistribution Date (COMMENTS) |
Lineage Statement |
Electoral Divisions are created through a redistribution process undertaken by the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) with boundaries defined by plans prepared the AEC. Copies of these plans have been registered in the Central Plan Register (CPR) and used to support the 2018 House of Assembly boundary proclamation.
LIST Electoral Division polygons have been created by interpreting the AEC plans using LIST digital cadastral data. In most instances Electoral Boundaries will follow cadastral boundaries but in some instances other features will form the basis for a boundary such as the side of a road, bank of watercourse, watersheds and straight lines. The majority of Electoral Division boundaries coincide with Local Government boundaries.
The coastal boundary of the LIST Electoral Division polygons have been aligned to the Local Government Boundary (LWM) to simplify mapping presentations and reduce the complexity of the shape, which improves usability. |
