Abstract |
The LIST Address Points contains the authoritative geocoded address points for properties in Tasmania which have been allocated a street number component. For urban properties and rural addressed properties with an area of 1 hectare or less, the address point will correspond to the property centroid. For rural addressed properties with an area greater than 1 hectare, the address point will be placed at a measured distance along a road determined from the rural address value, and offset 50 metres at right angles from the road centreline. The offset will position the address point on the correct side of the road.
The Address Points dataset is attributed with the Property Identifier Number (PID) and the official Tasmanian property address aligned to AS4590 standard. |
Lineage Statement |
Property addresses are allocated by Local Government and maintained against properties in the Valuation Information System for Tasmania (VISTAS) database. Street names have been matched from this database to the LIST road segments. These have been attributed with datum points and direction conforming to rural addressing. An application has been developed to place rural address points offset from the road centreline according to their distance. Checks ensure that the address point falls within the property polygon having the same PID. If required the point will be progressively moved in incremental steps up and down the road to a predetermined limit so that the measured distance falls within the correct property. Further refinement of this dataset will be done later by visually inspecting rural address points in relation the driveways depicted in the roads dataset, and moving these points to align where appropriate. Urban addresses have been assigned by creating a polygon for a property and generating a centroid. For properties over 1 hectare, later adjustment will be made by visually moving the address point using the cadastre and roads as reference. |
