Abstract |
A composite map layer that displays the land tenure of Tasmania classified as to whether or not prospecting is allow, this is overlaid and over-ridden by a subset of the areas unavailable under the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995. The layer also shows all current mineral tenements, and declared fossicking areas. |
Lineage Statement |
The Land Tenure of Tasmania as defined by theLIST service Land Tenure has been classified as to whether or not prospecting is allowed within that tenure. This is then overlaid and over-ridden by a subset of of the unavailable areas - Unavailable area polygons are a combination of land not available under the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995 and areas administratively excluded by Mineral Resources Tasmania as they are deemed incompatible with exploration or mining. Land not available under the MRDA includes: Game Reserves, Historic Sites, National Parks, Nature Reserves, State Reserves, Wellington Park, some Private Reserves and areas formally gazetted as exempt from the MRDA. Areas administratively excluded by Mineral Resources Tasmania include (but are not limited to): Aboriginal Land, Commonwealth Land, Ramsar Sites, Fossicking Areas, Fossil Sites, World Heritage Area, a buffer along high pressure gas pipelines, and other areas, as determined by Mineral Resources Tasmania, which may or may not follow administrative or geographic boundaries.
Administrative or geographic boundaries used are derived from the following services on theLIST:
Public Land Classification
Tasmanian Reserve Estate
Authority Land
Hydrographic Lines
Cadastre
Ramsar Wetlands
In addition this composite layer displays all current mineral tenements as derived from the Tasmanian Information on Geoscience and Exploration Resources (TIGER) system administered by Mineral Resources Tasmania.
Also displayed are the fossicking areas as defined and declared under the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995 |
Lineage Description |
Positional Accuracy: The positional accuracy of boundaries is dependent on the accuracy of the underlying data it follows.
Attribute Accuracy: It is estimated that not less than 99% of attributes are correct.
Logical Consistency:
All data is topologically related, all polygons close and all polygons are labelled. There are no duplicates, but some areas are unavailable for multiple reasons and so there will be overlapping polygons.
Completeness:
Complete. |
